Originally built in 1998, the homeowners’ wood deck had seen two facelifts over the years. But after 25 years of service, it was ready for a full transformation. Instead of patching repairs, the owners envisioned a complete redesign—an outdoor living environment tailored for entertaining, relaxing, and showcasing the outdoor kitchen they had always dreamed of.

A Four-Tier Decking Concept

Our design-build team began by removing the existing deck and preserving only the concrete piers. From there, we created a custom four-tier deck design, each level with a unique purpose and distinct character. Using premium composite decking materials, we installed patterned layouts featuring borders, diagonals, and custom inlays. To preserve open views, we added sleek cable railings throughout.

Upper Tier: Herb Garden & Lounge

The first tier was crafted as a peaceful retreat. With a dedicated herb garden and a comfortable wicker seating area, it’s perfect for morning coffee, reading, or quiet conversations while overlooking the lower levels.

Second Tier: Covered Outdoor Kitchen

At the heart of the design is the outdoor kitchen, located on the second tier beneath a custom roof structure. The roof pairs a durable metal exterior with knotty pine on the underside for warmth and character. The kitchen includes:

• An eight-burner gas grill with high-BTU burners
• Ample under-counter storage
• A built-in beverage refrigerator
• A poured concrete countertop with a chiseled-edge finish
• Imported Italian tile accents on the island
• Dining table for six

This blend of rustic charm and professional-grade function delivers a space where cooking and entertaining come together seamlessly.

Third Tier: Hammocks & Hot Tub

Designed for leisure, the third tier features two hammock chairs and a hot tub. Installed with a diagonal decking pattern for visual flow, this level offers a laid-back atmosphere perfect for every season.

Fourth Tier: Firepit Patio

At ground level, a poured stamped concrete patio surrounds a custom firepit. Built directly into the concrete pour, the firepit is capped with fire-rated sandstone and lined with firebrick for safety and durability. It’s the ultimate gathering spot for crisp Ohio evenings and autumn bonfires.
