Back in 1997, Mike and Lisa built their home in Olmsted Falls with the vision of raising a family in a welcoming, close-knit neighborhood. Over the years, the house served them well, filled with the memories of school mornings, holiday dinners, and growing children. But as time passed and their children became adults, the once functional kitchen no longer suited their needs—especially during family gatherings and holidays when everyone returned home.

Realizing it was time to make a change, Mike and Lisa turned to Remodel Me Today to begin their kitchen renovation. The goal was clear: open up the space and create a more functional, modern environment for entertaining and everyday living. The project began with one of the most significant aspects of the kitchen remodel—the removal of a load-bearing wall. This wall contained critical heating and plumbing lines that served the upstairs bedrooms and bathrooms, making the structural reconfiguration both complex and essential.

Beyond the kitchen, the couple decided to update the entire first floor, encompassing 1,500 square feet. Once the old laminate flooring was removed, hidden structural issues were discovered. Several floor joists were sagging, requiring reinforcement before the new luxury vinyl plank (LVP) flooring could be properly installed. Addressing this not only ensured a level surface but also improved the overall integrity of the home.

With the structure secured, the design phase took center stage. Mike and Lisa chose fully custom cabinetry—designed to fit their lifestyle and taste while maximizing storage and functionality. The cabinetry was paired with elegant quartz countertops that offer both a clean aesthetic and long-lasting durability. A modern tile backsplash added visual texture and was complemented by warm under-cabinet lighting.

One of the most striking changes in this kitchen remodel was the addition of an oversized island. Designed with both meal prep and gathering in mind, the island serves as the centerpiece of the new space. Distinctive pendant lighting fixtures hang above, adding a layer of charm and visual interest to the room.
