This kitchen remodel in Westlake, Ohio was done for Heather K. Previously outdated wooden cabinets and laminate counters had the clients wanting more space and an updated look in their kitchen. By turning an outdated 80’s kitchen into a modern design with more storage and light, this design was inspired by fresh looks of today with the designs of yesterday. By using a white baroque tile backsplash, the kitchen uses this chic look to brighten up the home and match industrial steel appliances. The floor plan was not changed because the kitchen functioned with the original design. New cabinets were timeless white shaker by Holiday. The counters were replaced with quartz by MSI pulling the fresh white details together. The dishwasher was also replaced to match the cabinets using an outer panel. One challenge faced was reconfiguring the vent hood exhaust as the original homebuilder had actually vented through the inside of three of the cabinets. This reconfiguration alone gained the clients three full cabinets of additional storage space. These updates to the wall cabinets, island and led lighting allowed a more functional kitchen—featuring the LED lights which can be controlled by a smart bluetooth switch and 39” wall cabinets instead of 33”, this kitchen now allows the clients the ability to store more and have a clean updated kitchen.
