The exterior of this traditional split-level home in Seven Hills may suggest a standard layout, however, the interior tells a different story—thanks to a complete kitchen transformation. Nestled on a prime triangular lot backing up to the scenic Cleveland Metro Park—also known as the Emerald Necklace—this home renovation focused on turning a small, outdated kitchen into a modern, functional space perfect for entertaining guests.

The original kitchen was crammed and inefficient with vinyl floors from the 1980s, an undersized wall oven, and laminate countertops. Walls separated the kitchen from the dining and living rooms—making the entire mid-level feel undersized and closed off. The kitchen renovation removed all the walls and evened the ceiling on this floor—creating an open-concept layout that maximized the space and flow of the area.

To maintain the structural integrity of the home, threaded rods were installed across the room in three key areas. These rods were captured with beautifully stained cedar and topped with custom turkey tails. This concept added an architectural wow factor that impresses as soon as you enter the space. The kitchen now centers around a large island featuring a 48-inch stove for the homeowner to prepare meals while interacting with guests in the open space.

The existing hardwood floors were carefully updated to match the new layout. Additional materials were seamlessly woven into the existing floors—followed by sanding and refinishing to the custom color preference of the client. A cozy dining area—complete with a built-in banquet space—was added in the corner for family meals. Above this area, a custom steel piece was painted with chalkboard paint to showcase the homeowners’ magnet collection from their travels.

This kitchen renovation successfully transformed a small, outdated space into a versatile, stylish area perfect for both intimate family dinners and entertaining larger groups. Functionality, design, and creativity all came together in this project—resulting in a space that far exceeds expectations.
