Kate and Sean approached Remodel Me Today with hesitation, uncertain if their home’s significant issues could be resolved with the kitchen and cabinetry updates they desperately needed. Their Rocky River home was showing its age—with crumbling ceilings, peeling floors, stained carpets, and distressed plaster. The kitchen and dining rooms were small—each no more than 100 square feet—and the space was far from functional.

The transformation began with a complete demo of the kitchen and dining area—everything went, including the kitchen sink. A load-bearing wall was removed, and a flush-mount beam was installed to open up the space and create a more inviting and functional layout. One of the challenges during the renovation was that the ceilings in the two rooms were misaligned by over six inches. To correct this, one area was lowered while still maintaining an eight-foot ceiling height—ensuring a seamless and cohesive look.

For the flooring, Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP) with a tile look was installed—offering the aesthetic of tile with the comfort and warmth that bare feet can enjoy. The kitchen’s cabinetry was upgraded with stylish white cabinets that brought a fresh and timeless feel to the space. Paired with classic subway tile, the cabinetry design added elegance and durability.

One of the key improvements was the addition of a deep pantry behind the refrigerator, which provided much-needed additional storage space in this compact kitchen. The new layout maximized every inch—turning a once dysfunctional and distressed area into a beautifully functional cooking space that Kate and Sean could be proud of.
